Points Distrubtion Details

MGA State Championships:

All MGA State Championships will receive full points, regardless of field size.

Sanctioned Tournament Minimum Numbers:

There will no longer be a minimum number of players required to be sanctioned. All sanctioned tournaments approved by the board will be sanctioned for points. Full points for the sanctioned tournament will be awarded if the specific division has a minimum of the following: Regular/Open/Mid Am Division-40 players; Senior Division-15 players; Super Senior-7 players. The minimum number to receive full points is based on the number who begin playing the tournament in the specific division. If a lower number is in a specific division, the points awarded with will prorated based on the field size in the specific division.

Sanctioned Tournaments with out of state players or professionals:

Players who are from out of state, will be counted in the points distribution, but they will not earn MGA points. This also applies to events with professionals in the regular/open division.

Super Senior Division Points:

Players who are 60 and over will receive super senior division points. Points will be awarded to players over the age of 60 in tournaments without a specific super senior divison. The points will be based on how you finish among all of the super seniors in the field. Players who are from out of state, will be counted in the points distribution, but they will not earn MGA points. Professional golfers, who are over the age of 60 will not be counted in the points distribution.

Senior Division Points:

Players who are 50 and over will receive senior division points. Senior Points will be awarded to players over the age of 50 in tournaments without a specific senior division. The points will be based on how you finish among all of the seniors in the field. Players who are from out of state, will be counted in the points distribution, but they will not earn MGA points. Professional golfers, who are over the age of 50 will not be counted in the points distribution.

Governor's Cup Team Selections for 2018 teams and beyond:

Mid Am Players-Top 7 mid am players excluding college/high school players, current State Amateur Champion, current Mid Amateur Chamion, plus 1 captain's pick

Senior Players-Top 6 senior players, current Senior Amateur Champion, plus 1 captain's pick

Super Senior Players- current Super Senior Amateur Champion, Super Senior Player of the Year

POY points run from January 1st to December 31st of current year.
