Hattiesburg, Miss. — The team of Scott Rhodes and Tony Shell are simply keeping it rolling. The pair not only retained their 18-hole lead, they extended it…big time.

Rhodes and Shell saw their lead swell to five shots heading into Sunday’s final round, thanks to another bogey-free round at Hattiesburg Country Club. Nine birdies and an eagle decorated their scorecard, with the pair matching each other on two occasions en route to a second round 65 (-7).

Not to be outdone, Benton Smith and David Calhoun teamed up to take full advantage of moving day, posting a 65 of their own to move into a tie for second place. The duo struggled out of the gates early, finding themselves one over on the day with three bogeys on their card through their first five holes. Turning it on the par 3 7th, the team birdied their next eight holes, flipping the script and putting themselves in prime position to apply the pressure on Rhodes and Shell.

Smith and Calhoun have company at 12 under as Ryan Mitchell and George Byrd shot a second straight round of 66. One more team finds themselves in double digits and within striking range of the lead. Guion Gee and Kevin Spence posted a second-round 68 to get themselves to 11 under — six back of the lead.

Super Senior Division

Danny Hooker and Judson Vance slid up the leaderboard with their second straight 67. Their round was highlighted with an eagle on No. 9 four birdies. Finishing the 36-hole mark at 10-under, they hold a one-shot lead ahead of Sunday’s final round.

Looking to chase down Hooker and Vance is the team of Larry Boyd and Todd Bradley (-9). Hoping to capitalize on momentum, Boyd and Bradley catapulted themselves up the leaderboard with a division-low 66 on Saturday.

Steve McKay and Ken Peacock lurk in third place at 8 under.

Grand Master Division

Eddie Brown and Alex Weddington now have the lead to themselves with 18 holes to play. Tied for the lead following play on Friday, Brown and Weddington backed their opening 64 with a 3 under, 69. Now at 11 under, the team holds a four-shot lead over Randy Pool and Kelly Swain (-7).

The final round of the Bill Cass Senior Four Ball begins at 7:30 am. Live scoring can be found here.
