John W. “Johnny” Lang

John W. “Johnny” Lang was born in Laurel, MS before his family moved to Meridian, MS where he graduated from Meridian High in 1974. Following high school, Johnny attended the University of Mississippi where he was a four-year letterman on the golf team and saw a myriad of success both on and off the golf course. In 1978, Johnny received his BBA in Accounting and two years later received his Masters Degree in Accounting both from the University of Mississippi. During his collegiate time in Oxford, Johnny’s success on the golf course included several collegiate wins. Johnny claimed the 1974 Centenary Junior/Senior Collegiate played in Shreveport, LA and in 1975 was the winner of the Auburn Lake Martin Collegiate Championship. Extending his victories outside of just collegiate golf, Johnny added a Mississippi State Amateur title to his resume in 1976 and then a second State Amateur title in 1980. Following his success as an amateur player, Johnny became the Class A PGA Professional at Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles, CA from 1983-1985. Moving back to Meridian, MS in 1985, and back to the amateur side of golf, Johnny added back to back victories of the 1990 and 1991 Mississippi Mid-Amateur Championships. Beyond his talents on the golf course, Mr. Lang has undoubtedly made a huge impact on the game of golf and community in Mississippi. Johnny is currently a member at the Country Club of Jackson where he served as a Board Member from 2009-2013 and President in 2012. Since 1999, he has been a member of Century Club Charities where he served as a Board Member from 2004-2007, 2009-2016, and 2018 to present. He also served as the President of Century Club Charities from 2012- 2014 and since 2018 has served as the Treasurer. Since 2004, he has been a member of The 100 Club of Mississippi and served on their Board from 2010-2013. Johnny also is the Co-Founder of The First Tee of Mississippi (2016) where he served as President from 2016-2018, a Board Member from 2016-2019, and remains a benefactor for life. Mr. Lang currently resides in Jackson, MS and is a successful Financial Advisor.
